Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has made an offer to the opposition. He wants them to call for a special vote on his presidency.
The vote would be called an advisory referendum. This means it’s not binding, but rather a way to see how people feel about Vucic being president. If most voters don’t want him as president, he says he will resign.
Vucic claims that many people in Serbia want him to leave office. He cites the CRTA election watchdog organization, which said that most voters are against his presidency. According to Vucic, there’s no more trustworthy source than CRTA for both international and local parties in Serbia.
To make this vote happen, the opposition just needs 67 signatures from its MPs. This is a relatively small number of votes, so it’s possible that they could get enough support.
