Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has spoken about the recent protests by students. He said he wants to talk to them, but they don’t want to speak with him.
Vucic was on TV Prva on New Year‘s Eve and said that the students have no good arguments on their side. He also said he is not afraid of people trying to overthrow him by force.
**Attempted Coup**
Vucic claimed that there was an attempt to stage a coup d’etat on November 3, just after a major protest in Novi Sad. However, this attempt failed.
He mentioned that a meeting of a loyalist faction within the ruling party took place on Tuesday. This faction has around 17,000 members and includes men who beat up opposition leader Dragan Djilas.
**Loyalists Warn Opponents**
Vucic said that his brother Andrej is part of this loyalist faction. He added that they are against any kind of “colored revolution” and are prepared to fight. The faction has warned people who want to oppose the president that they will not get support from the party.
