The US National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, has been involved in sensitive national-security conversations on the messaging app Signal. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Waltz hosted multiple chats with cabinet members, including discussions about peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Waltz’s credibility was undermined after he added a journalist, Jeffrey Goldberg, to a Signal chat room discussing a future US attack on Yemen. The leak of sensitive information has put Waltz in a difficult position, especially since he is key to brokering peace between Ukraine and Russia.
**Peace Talks Between Ukraine and Russia**
Waltz participated in talks with the two countries’ delegations in Saudi Arabia in February and March. Despite efforts to find a peaceful solution, the conflict continues to escalate. The US President, Donald Trump, has threatened to impose secondary tariffs on Russian oil exports if President Putin does not agree to end the war.
**Armenia Refuses to Pay Contributions**
Armenia has refused to pay its contributions to the Moscow-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for the past year. The country suspended its participation in the military alliance in August 2024.
