The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of occupied Abkhazia has responded to comments from the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency. The agency had spoken out against possible regular flights by Russian airlines at the Sokhumi Airport in occupied Abkhazia.
**No Pragmatic Approach**
According to the statement, Georgia’s recent statements have not shown a pragmatic approach to resolving relations between the two countries. Instead, they are seen as stereotypical and reality-detached. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of occupied Abkhazia believes that such approaches only create more tension and hinder efforts to resolve the prolonged crisis.
**A Call for Constructive Dialogue**
The statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of occupied Abkhazia urges Georgia to refrain from confrontational rhetoric and start a new stage of constructive dialogue. This would involve signing a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force and taking into account the political and legal reality created after conflicts in 1992-1993 and 2008.
**Disagreement Over Flights**
The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency has stated that any foreign airline operating flights to occupied Abkhazia would be illegal. This comes as a test flight from Moscow to the Sokhumi Airport was carried out by the airline ЮВТ Аэро on February 7, with regular flights expected to start on May 1.
