**Hungary Vows to Oppose 22 Billion Euro Aid Package for Ukraine**
Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has spoken out against the European Union‘s plan to provide an additional 20 billion euros in aid to Ukraine. The funding, which is reportedly set to be discussed at a ministerial meeting in Brussels on March 17, would be used to support arms shipments to Ukraine.
Szijjarto said that Hungary will not allow its taxpayers’ money to be used for this purpose and instead supports peace negotiations. He accused the EU of taking a pro-war stance and claimed that Budapest’s efforts are being “dragged” into this.
This move comes as US President Donald Trump has been pushing for a swift peace settlement, temporarily cutting off military and intelligence backing for Ukraine in an effort to get them to negotiate.
**Ukraine Receives Support from Other Countries**
Despite Hungary’s opposition, other countries have expressed their support for Ukraine. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has positioned himself as a potential mediator between Russia and Ukraine, while the US and UK are considering sending troops and aid to Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that the primary goal is to secure a ceasefire before moving forward with broader negotiations for a permanent resolution.
**Russia’s Advances in Ukraine**
Meanwhile, Russian forces have continued their advances in Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses shot down 90 out of 174 attack and decoy drones launched by Russia overnight. The International Center for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine has been set up to investigate crimes committed by Russian leadership.
**Efforts to End the War**
The US and other countries are working towards a positive outcome regarding the end of the war in Ukraine. Lviv’s international airport could resume flights as early as April or May this year, if there is a successful peace settlement.
