Ursula von der Leyen, European Commission President, showed her support for Ukraine by lighting up EU buildings with Ukrainian flags. She wrote on X, “In 2022, Russia thought its full-scale invasion would end in days. 1,000 days later, Ukraine bravely resists.”
**NATO and Lithuania Stand By Ukraine**
Patrick Turner, NATO’s senior representative in Ukraine, praised the country’s resilience, calling it a powerful inspiration for the world. Laurynas Kasciunas, Lithuanian Defense Minister, reiterated his country’s continued support for Ukraine.
**US Announces New Defense Assistance**
Linda Thomas-Greenfield, US Ambassador to the United Nations, announced plans for new defense assistance for Ukraine “in the coming days.” She called on U.N. member states to back Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace formula.
