**Ukrainian President Accuses Slovak Leader of Helping Russia**
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has accused the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, of helping Russia to fund its war against Ukraine. This is according to a statement made by Zelensky on social media.
**Meeting with Putin**
Fico had met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow just days before Zelensky’s statement to discuss gas supplies. The meeting came after Kyiv said it would not extend the deal on transiting Russian gas to Europe past December 31.
**Zelensky’s Criticism**
In his statement, Zelensky called Fico’s pro-Russian energy policy a “big security issue” for Slovakia and Europe. He asked why Fico was so dependent on Moscow and what he was being paid by Russia. Zelensky also accused Fico of trying to help Putin earn money to fund the war against Ukraine.
**Fico’s Record**
Zelensky pointed out that under Fico’s leadership, Slovakia had taken a sharp turn in its foreign policy, halting military supplies to Ukraine and adopting more Russian-friendly rhetoric. He noted that Fico had made controversial statements on Ukraine and the war, echoing Kremlin talking points.
**Compensation for Lost Profit**
Zelensky also claimed that Fico was interested specifically in the $500 million per year worth of Russian gas that Slovakia had been receiving. He said that Fico refused compensation for lost profit during the transition period.
**No Comment from Fico**
Fico has yet to comment on Zelensky’s statement.
