Russian forces have moved closer to the town of Huyeve, which is in a border region of Ukraine.
According to researchers at the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), geolocated footage shows Russian units advancing to the northern outskirts of Huyeve on March 28.
The same area was also mentioned by Russian sources, including their Ministry of Defense, as being taken from Ukrainian forces. They claimed that Russian troops had captured a nearby village called Hoholivka and were moving forward in other parts of the region.
Other areas targeted by Russian forces include Oleshnya and Huyeve itself. Some Russian analysts say that Ukrainian forces still hold positions in certain parts of these regions, particularly in the south of Huyeve, in Hornali, and in Oleshnya.
Russian military units are using drones to attack these remaining Ukrainian positions. This situation was reported by ISW earlier, who also mentioned that Russian forces had taken control of the village of Hoholivka and a border checkpoint called Sudzha.
