**Russia Launches ICBM Against Ukraine**
On November 21, Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) against the city of Dnipro in eastern Ukraine. The attack was reported by Kyiv‘s Air Force.
A country-wide air raid alert sounded early on November 21 due to the threat of ballistic missiles and the launch of Russian Tu-95MS bomber aircraft. The Ukrainian Air Force said that a number of different missile types were used in the attack.
The report mentioned that an ICBM was launched from Russia’s Astrakhan region, while seven Kh-101 cruise missiles were fired from Tu-95MS strategic bombers. A Kh-47M2 ‘Kinzhal’ aeroballistic missile was also launched from a MiG-31K fighter jet in the Tambov region.
**Damage and Injuries Reported**
The attack damaged an industrial enterprise and caused two fires in Dnipro, according to Governor Serhii Lysak. A rehabilitation center for people with disabilities was also damaged, said Mayor Borys Filatov. At least two people were reported injured in the attack.
**Missile Defenses Worked**
Ukraine’s Air Force said that six of the Kh-101 missiles fired by Russian bombers were shot down. However, it is not clear if the ICBM caused any damage in Dnipro.
ICBMs are much larger and more powerful than other types of ballistic missiles used by Russia against Ukraine. They can be equipped with nuclear payloads and are designed to hit targets at long ranges.
