**Ukraine’s Story Must Not Be Forgotten**

As Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine enters its fourth year, the global conversation is shifting. The world’s leading democracies are preoccupied with their own internal crises, and attention has drifted away from Ukraine’s story. But it’s more important than ever that we remember what’s at stake.

**The Need Ukrainian Voices**

At The , we believe that Ukraine needs be seen and heard by the world. We’re not just talking about international journalists telling our story – we need Ukrainian voices, informed by context, rooted in reality, and reporting from the ground in real-time. Local journalists understand their communities and the stakes of this war like no one else can.

**The Challenge of Reaching a Global Audience**

However, many Ukrainian struggle to communicate their stories effectively in English. Direct translation without proper context or adaptation can confuse or mislead international . That’s why we’re launching the Kyiv Independent J-School for a second time – to equip more and media managers with the skills, experience, and confidence to speak to a global audience.

**Practical Training for Real-World Challenges**

Our training is built on real-world experience, not just theory. We’ll be teaching Ukrainian journalists how to frame local events for a global audience without losing meaning or nuance. We focus on clear, compelling English-language journalism that bridges the gap between what’s happening here and what the world needs to understand.

**Strong Leadership Matters**

Resilient, independent newsrooms require more than just talent – they need strategy, structure, and the capacity to grow sustainably under pressure. That’s why this year’s J-School includes a dedicated track for media managers. We believe that professional and strong leadership are what will make Ukraine’s media resilient in the face of global instability.

**A Call to Action**

We’re calling on international media experts to contribute their knowledge, and on global funders to step up. Support is urgently needed not just for training initiatives like ours but to help sustain the operations of local publishers now struggling to survive amid the U.S. aid freeze. Strengthening Ukraine’s media today means protecting the truth for years to come.

**The Future of Ukrainian Journalism**

We believe that Ukraine’s media landscape is stronger than ever, and journalists here have stepped up in remarkable ways since the full-scale began. But to keep going – and to keep growing – we need to invest in one another. We need to share what we’ve learned and build something that lasts beyond the war.

**Join Us**

We invite you to join us on this journey to strengthen Ukraine’s media industry from within. Together, let’s ensure that Ukraine’s story is told accurately and powerfully by those who live it – and that they’re not alone in doing so.
