**Ukraine Strikes Targets in Russia**
The US has confirmed that Ukraine used American–made missiles to strike targets inside Russia. This happened after reports of attacks on a military facility in Karachev, Bryansk Oblast.
According to John Kirby, spokesperson for the US National Security Council, Ukrainian soldiers are now allowed to use these long-range missiles to defend themselves. The strikes were reportedly carried out in and around Kursk Oblast.
**Policy Change**
This change in policy follows a previous decision by President Joe Biden to ease restrictions on using certain US-supplied weapons. However, the rules about using ATACMS missiles remained strict until now.
The permission for Ukraine to use these missiles was given because of an increased Russian presence in Kursk Oblast. This includes forces from Russia and North Korea.
**Other Strikes**
This is not the first time Ukraine has struck targets inside Russia. It also used British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles to target areas within Russia’s borders, according to reports.
