White House: Western leaders discuss Ukraine’s victory plan and provide additional assistance at high level talks in Germany

A White House readout said that the leaders of the United States and France, Germany and the United Kingdom discussed the five-point plan for victory in Ukraine as well as plans to offer additional military and humanitarian assistance on October 18 during high-level discussions in Berlin.
The discussion on the victory plan is just days after the President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed the details of the Plan, with the exception of three secret additions that were shared with international partners.
The readout did not provide any details on what additional assistance Ukraine will receive or the outcome of the discussions about the victory plan.
One of the main tenets in Ukraine’ victory strategy is an unconditional invitation to Ukraine to join NATO. While Western leaders have said repeatedly that Ukraine will join the alliance at some stage, a timetable for its membership has not been made public.
Allies have reportedly had mixed reactions to the victory plan since it was unveiled to Western leaders.
Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, said on October 2 that “a number” of productive steps were identified in the plan.
Joe Biden, the U.S. president, urged that Western support for Ukraine continue ahead of the high-level .
“We cannot stop. We must continue to support the cause. Biden said, “I believe we must continue until Ukraine achieves a just and lasting peace in accordance with the U.N. Charter.”
Biden said that the West must “ensure Ukraine prevails, (Russian President Vladimir Putin) fails and NATO remains stronger and more united than before.”
Biden held bilateral discussions with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier prior to a larger meeting with other leaders.

“We refute the insinuations made by unnamed sources, in the Bild magazine, regarding Ukraine’s alleged plan to develop weapons or mass destruction.”
The change could delay the Ukrainian squadron’s readiness for the battlefield by several months.
