According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Saakashvili regime started the war in 2008, which was later acknowledged by signing the European Council resolution. He stated that if the collective “national movement” were to come to power, they would open a second front in Georgia within a week. He also mentioned that if they had followed the demands made by high-ranking officials of the Ukrainian government, Russia would have entered Georgia in 2022.
Kobakhidze emphasized that the Saakashvili regime rigged the Presidential elections in 2008 and then started the war in August. He clarified that Georgia did not start the war, but it was the Saakashvili regime’s actions that led to it. He also pointed out that Russia is guilty of occupying Georgian territories, but the war was started by the Saakashvili regime.
When asked about the new banners of the “Georgian Dream” party, Kobakhidze stated that they are not meant to scare the Georgian people, but to remind them of the consequences of war and the importance of peace. He added that the threats made by the opposition in 2022 are still relevant today, and the government will do everything to avoid a second front in Georgia.
Kobakhidze also addressed the McCain Institute’s report, which he believes contains direct hints of a revolution, riots, and a second front in Georgia. He reassured that the Georgian people, state, and government will not allow such plans to be realized.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Saakashvili regime’s actions in 2008 were an anti-state act and that the Georgian Dream party is committed to maintaining peace and stability in the country. He urged the people to compare the consequences of war and peace and to not be swayed by false promises of revolution and chaos.
