**Georgian Delegation’s Mandate in Question**
The Georgian parliamentary delegation is facing a challenge to its mandate in the European Parliament‘s assembly. The issue will be decided by two committees, which have 24 hours to give their opinion.
This means that during a session from January 27 to 31, a vote will take place to determine whether the Georgian delegation‘s mandate should be recognized. The decision is now in question because of an issue raised by the European People’s Party (EPP).
The EPP, which has support from members in five countries, made this request after Swedish MP Boriana Öberg brought up the issue.
**Why is the mandate being challenged?**
The Georgian Parliament is only made up of one party, called “Georgian Dream.” The EPP claims that Georgia’s democratic order is being destroyed by a regime led by Ivanishvili. In response, Boriana Öberg said: “I call for their mandate to be suspended.”
