**US Envoy Says Putin Wants Peace**
The US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, talked to Fox News on March 23. He shared his thoughts about negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
Witkoff thinks that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants peace. When asked if he’s convinced that Putin is seeking peace, Witkoff said yes. His job is to help narrow down the issues and stop fighting in Ukraine.
But just hours after Witkoff’s interview, Russia launched a deadly drone attack on Kyiv, killing three people, including a five-year-old girl and her father.
Witkoff also said that he doesn’t think Putin wants to take all of Europe. However, this contradicts intelligence assessments made by European allies, who warn that Russia might invade Europe within five years if NATO is weakened or divided.
Witkoff’s comments were made despite the increasing threat from Russia and warnings from Western leaders about Europe’s lack of preparedness for war.
It’s worth noting that Witkoff has made similar comments in other interviews. He once said that Putin doesn’t regard him as a bad guy, and even repeated Kremlin talking points, implying that NATO is responsible for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
