**US Envoy Lands in Moscow as US Seeks Russian Approval for Ceasefire**
A plane carrying Steve Witkoff, the US President‘s special envoy to the Middle East, has landed in Moscow. This comes as the US seeks Russian approval for a proposed 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.
The ceasefire proposal was accepted by Kyiv during talks in Jeddah on March 11. The US had previously suspended military and intelligence support for Ukraine, but resumed it after accepting the ceasefire.
Witkoff’s visit to Moscow is seen as an attempt to negotiate a truce with Russia. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has confirmed that US negotiators are traveling to Russia, but declined to reveal Moscow’s position on the ceasefire proposal.
**US Officials Fear Russian Exploitation**
Some US officials and analysts fear that Russia could exploit the truce to deepen divisions between Washington, Kyiv, and their European allies while regrouping for further offensives. In response, London and Paris are leading discussions among 37 countries from Europe, Asia, and the Commonwealth on shielding Ukraine against any future Russian aggression.
**Russia Retakes Key Stronghold**
Russian forces have retaken Sudzha, a key stronghold of Ukrainian troops in Kursk Oblast. The resolution, which carries symbolic significance, urges the European Union, NATO, and allied nations to boost political, economic, and military aid for Ukraine.
