**Kosovo Remains the Poorest Country in **

A recent report from the World found that Kosovo continues to face a poverty rate among its population. This makes it the poorest country not only in the region, but also in all of Europe.

According to Jane Sprouster, the Deputy Manager for Kosovo, the per capita income in Kosovo is much lower than the average income in European Union (EU) member states. The poverty rate in Kosovo remains high, just above 19 percent.

To achieve progress and increase shared prosperity, Kosovo needs to transition to a model of competitive that creates more and better-quality jobs for all its people. This would help bridge the income with EU countries.

Sprouster noted that Kosovo’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the lowest in the region, averaging 5,589 euros per capita annually. This means that citizens are struggling to cover basic monthly expenses with their incomes.

The United Nations Development (UNDP) also reported that poverty in Kosovo is deepening. The UNDP found that 10 percent of households in Kosovo survive on less than two euros a day.

Data from the World Bank shows that Kosovo has the highest rate in the region, with only 37 percent of the working-age population employed.
