Kyiv to Get $432 Million for Transport Repairs
The Ukrainian government will get $432 million from the World Bank to fix transport infrastructure damaged during the war. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on April 2.
This funding is part of a bigger project called DRIVE (Developing Resilient Infrastructure in Vulnerable Environments in Ukraine). The project aims to repair roads and bridges, reform national roads, and install new bridges. It also includes technical help for the transport sector.
Of the $432 million, $270 million will go towards fixing roads and bridges. Another $90 million will be used to rebuild the transport system.
Ukraine’s recovery from Russia’s invasion is estimated to cost around $486 billion, according to the World Bank.
The DRIVE project will finish its work by 2028. It is being funded in part by the World Bank and the government of Japan.
