The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran rejected the efforts of US and Arab diplomats who tried to moderate its response following the assassination in Tehran of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
Sources say that Iranian officials do not worry about war.
The publication quoted Iranian officials saying “We do not worry whether our response will lead us to war”.
For the record, tensions in the Middle East region have increased since the murders of Fuad Shkri, the head Hezbollah leader in Beirut and Ismail Haniyeh the leader of Hamas, in Tehran.
Israel killed Shukr (61), in retaliation to a rocket attack that killed 12 children and teens in a Druze Village in the Israeli-occupied Golan Height on July 27. Hezbollah has been exchanging fire with Israel since 8 October and denied any involvement in the attack.
Iran and Hamas accuse Israel of Haniyeh’s murder, and vow to avenge him with Hezbollah.
