UN to Vote on US Resolution to End Ukraine Conflict
The United Nations Security Council may hold a vote on Monday. It’s the third anniversary of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
A US-drafted resolution is being considered. This resolution has only one supporter, which is the government of Georgia. The Wall Street Journal reports this information.
The US-written resolution has three main points. It says that the conflict should end quickly and remembers the lives lost in the fighting between Russia and Ukraine.
This resolution does not say who started the war or make demands on the Russian government.
Georgia’s relations with Russia have gotten better recently, The Wall Street Journal notes.
The US is also asking Ukraine to withdraw a different draft resolution. This one blames Russia for invading Ukraine.
The US says that its own resolution can be accepted by all members and focuses on ending the fighting between Russia and Ukraine.
