Yulia Navalnaya is the widow of the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. She told the BBC that she would run for President if she could return to a post Putin Russia.
In an interview with the BBC published on October 21, Navalnaya said, “I will participate… as a Candidate” when the right time comes.
Navalnaya stated that she wants to “bring closer the country and make changes possible” without giving further details. She added that she was not “a magician and does not know what the secret is” for bringing about an immediate change in Russia.
She said, “If you don’t have the time to do something big, then do something small each day. The more people who do this, the sooner the time will come for change.”
Navalnaya stated that her return to Moscow was “unfortunately impossible” so long as Russian President Vladimir Putin remains at the helm.
She lives in another country and, for fear of arrest, she did not attend her husband’s funeral, which was held on March 3th.
In July, a Moscow court ordered the arrest of Navalnaya in absentia on charges of “participating to an extremist organisation.” If she were to return home to Russia, she would be facing jail time like her late husband.
Alexei Navalny was immediately arrested upon his return to Russia in 2021, after he had been hospitalized in Germany for an attempted assassination. He died on February 16 in a Russian penal colony after being convicted of several fabricated crimes as part the Kremlin crackdown on dissent. Leaders from around the globe have blamed Putin’s death.
After the death of her spouse, Navalnaya became more visible in the public eye. She has accused Putin and Navalny of murdering each other.
The posthumous publication of Navalny’s “Patriot” will take place on October 22. It is based on the prison diaries of the Russian opposition leader and has been edited in part, by his wife, Yuliya.

According to the drone’s creators, the Wild Hornets Group, “Sting” is able to fly altitudes of up to 10,000 feet with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. It is the world’s first drone designed to specifically target Russia’s Shaheds arsenal.
