**Ukraine President Meets with Defense Leaders in Germany**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Ramstein airbase in Germany on January 9. He gave a speech to the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) meeting.
Zelensky will meet one-on-one with leaders from other countries during the summit. This is the last time the UDCG will meet in this format before the US has a new president. Joe Biden‘s successor, Donald Trump, takes office on January 20.
**Concerns About Future Aid**
Trump has said he might not give as much money to Ukraine as his predecessor did. This worries people because it is not clear if Trump will keep sending arms and aid to Ukraine.
The US plans to announce a $500 million aid package for Ukraine at the meeting. However, only $3.8 billion remains from previous promises of help. It’s unclear what Trump will do with this money.
**Ukraine’s President Asks for Help**
Zelensky told leaders that they should keep helping Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s aggression. He said it would be “crazy” to stop now and give up on the progress made so far.
The UDCG includes 57 countries, including all 32 NATO members. Some think this might be the last meeting in this format.
