**Ukraine’s President Says Russia is Preparing to Reject Ceasefire Proposal**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing to reject a 30-day ceasefire proposed by the US. Zelensky made this comment during his evening address on March 13.
**Putin‘s Conditions are Unacceptable**
According to Zelensky, Putin’s response to the proposal was “manipulative” and included conditions that make it impossible for Ukraine to accept. These conditions include a guarantee that Ukraine will not mobilize or train troops, nor receive military aid during the ceasefire. Zelensky described this as “Russian manipulations.”
**Russia is Advancing in Ukraine**
Putin mentioned the situation on the battlefield and claimed that a ceasefire would be beneficial to Ukraine now because Russia is advancing along the front line. He also raised questions about who would control the temporary truce along the more than 2,000-kilometer front line.
**US Ready to Organize Oversight of Ceasefire**
The American side has said it is ready to organize the oversight and verification of the temporary ceasefire. Zelensky argued that a truce would make it possible to address all security issues and “put a plan to end the war on the table.”
**Pressure Needed on Russia**
Zelensky called for pressure on Putin by imposing sanctions on Russia. Previously, US President Donald Trump had warned that Moscow could face “devastating” financial consequences if it continues its all-out war against Ukraine.
