Ukraine has been asking for F-16s since Russia started its full-scale invasion in 2022. The first jets arrived in August 2024, after several Western countries gave their approval.

Many countries have contributed F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine’s defense efforts. The Netherlands has committed the most F-16s, with 24 aircraft. Denmark and Norway have also pledged planes, although the exact number is not known. Belgium plans to supply F-16s too.
