**Ukraine’s President Seeks Stronger US Support**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants the United States to support Ukraine more strongly. This comes after a heated meeting with US President Donald Trump.
Zelensky met Trump at the White House on Friday. During their meeting, they interrupted each other and had a tense conversation. Trump told Zelensky to make a deal with Russia or the US would stop supporting Ukraine. Zelensky said he wants the US to guarantee Ukraine’s security as part of any peace deal.
**European Leaders Back Ukraine**
Zelensky met European leaders in the UK on Saturday. They all showed support for Ukraine and condemned Russia’s actions. Nato’s secretary general said Zelensky needs to find a way to repair his relationship with Trump.
**US and Ukraine Disagree**
The White House meeting was meant to discuss a deal that would give the US access to rare earth minerals in Ukraine. But it didn’t happen, and Zelensky left early. Trump said Zelensky “overplayed his hand” during their conversation.
Zelensky said he’s ready to sign the minerals agreement as a first step towards getting security guarantees from the US. He wants a strong US position on Ukraine’s side.
**Russia Criticizes Ukraine**
The Russian government criticized Zelensky’s visit to Washington, saying it was a “complete diplomatic failure”. They also repeated their demands for Ukraine to give up all occupied territories.
**Casualties in Kharkiv**
On Saturday night, there were drone strikes in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. 12 people, including two children, were injured. Zelensky responded by asking “what kind of diplomacy?” and referencing a previous ceasefire deal that didn’t work out.
