**Ukraine Imposes Sanctions on Pro-Russian Propagandists**
On January 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree imposing new sanctions on people who spread Russian propaganda. These sanctions aim to stop pro-Russian individuals from working in Ukraine.
In a video address, Zelensky said that the sanctions target those who work for Russia and help it continue its war against Ukraine. He also mentioned that these individuals will be deprived of state awards, including the title of Hero of Ukraine.
**Previous Case: Yuriy Boyko**
This move comes after a similar request was made to revoke the Hero of Ukraine award from parliament member Yuriy Boyko last month. Boyko had repeated Russian propaganda talking points on social media. He previously led the banned pro-Russian party Opposition Platform — For Life.
Boyko was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine in 2004, but lawmakers have asked President Zelensky to take it away due to his recent actions.
**More Names May Be Affected**
Lawmaker Yaroslav Zhelezniak said that there are still many names on the list for award revocation. This indicates that more individuals may face sanctions and loss of state titles in the future.
