**Trump Blames Zelensky and Putin for Ukraine-Russia War**
U.S. President Donald Trump said that both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin share the blame for the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump criticized Zelensky for not cutting a deal with Russia instead of fighting. “Zelensky… shouldn’t have allowed this to happen either,” Trump said. “He’s no angel.”
Trump also blamed Putin for launching the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. “Putin shouldn’t have done it (launching the full-scale invasion)… and it has to stop,” Trump said.
**Casualty Rates**
Zelensky reported that 43,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 370,000 wounded as of December. Russia does not release information on its casualty rates.
**Economic Sanctions**
Trump warned Putin that if he doesn’t agree to negotiate, the U.S. will impose “massive tariffs and massive taxes, and… big sanctions.”
**U.S. Support for Ukraine**
The U.S. Congress has allocated over $170 billion to support Ukraine since the outbreak of the full-scale war in 2022.
**Peace Talks**
Trump said he aims to meet Putin in the coming days to discuss an end to the war. Moscow welcomed Trump’s proposal but expressed skepticism about a possible peace deal, saying it needs to understand what the U.S.’s goals are before entering into negotiations.
