**Japan to Send $3 Billion in Aid to Ukraine**
Japan is planning to send an extra $3 billion to help Ukraine. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky on December 25.
Zelensky spoke with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba over the phone. He thanked Japan for its previous aid, which has totalled $12 billion. This money has helped save thousands of lives in Ukraine.
Ukraine recently received $1 billion from Japan and the UK through a program run by the World Bank. This money is to be used for social and humanitarian purposes.
Zelensky had met with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya back in November. They discussed North Korea’s presence on Russia’s front line and ways to support Ukraine.
The Japanese government has promised to deepen its relationship with Ukraine. This includes plans to increase economic cooperation and impose more sanctions against Russia.
