**Ukraine Faces Uphill Battle Without US Help**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that his country’s survival is at risk if it doesn’t receive continued military support from the United States. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, he told NBC News that Ukraine would have a very difficult time fighting against Russia without American help.
Zelenskyy stressed that while Ukraine will always fight for its own survival, the chances of success would be significantly lower without US assistance. He dismissed the idea of negotiating a ceasefire with Russia on Russian terms, saying that Moscow’s goal is to gain time to rebuild its military strength.
**Russia Seeks Temporary Truce**
Zelenskyy warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks a temporary truce to ease international sanctions and prepare for renewed aggression. “This is really what he wants,” Zelenskyy said, emphasizing that any pause in fighting could allow Russia to reinforce its forces.
**US-European Rift Widens**
The US-Ukraine conflict has widened the rift between the US and European leaders over support for Ukraine. At the Munich summit, US Vice President JD Vance took a combative tone, criticizing European leaders on multiple fronts. In response, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier accused the Trump administration of undermining long-standing partnerships.
**Trump’s Statements Unsettle Europe**
Donald Trump’s recent statements on Ukraine have unsettled many European leaders. Despite criticism from within his own party, Trump downplayed concerns and said he would speak to Senator Roger Wicker about his comments. Zelenskyy remains hopeful that Washington will not abandon Kyiv.
**Zelenskyy Seeks US Support**
Despite the shifting US stance, Zelenskyy remains optimistic that Washington will support Ukraine. He suggested that Trump could exert pressure on Putin if he chose to stand firmly with Ukraine. “And if he will choose our side, and if he will not be in the middle, I think he will pressure and he will push Putin to stop the war,” Zelenskyy said.
