**Ukrainian President Fires Joint Forces Commander**
President Volodymyr Zelensky has fired Brigadier General Andrii Hnatov as commander of the Joint Forces. This move comes after Hnatov was appointed deputy chief of the General Staff in January.
**Changes in Military Leadership**
Hnatov had been in charge of the Joint Forces since June 26, 2024. He replaced Lieutenant General Yurii Sodol. In late January, Zelensky announced that Hnatov would be moving to the General Staff to help with training and communication between headquarters and the front lines.
**New Tasks Ahead**
At the time of Hnatov’s appointment to the General Staff, Zelensky said that new tasks had been set at all levels. The president also discussed these changes with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky.
**Previous Roles Held by Hnatov**
Before becoming Joint Forces commander, Hnatov served as deputy commander of the Southern Operational Command. While in his previous role, he was also responsible for leading the Khortytsia operational-strategic group.
