Russia’s military intelligence chief, Kyrylo Budanov, has attributed the high losses of North Korean troops in Ukraine to their lack of combat experience and reliance on human wave attacks with limited equipment. According to Ukrainian officials, up to 12,000 North Korean soldiers were deployed to Kursk Oblast last fall to help Russian forces push back a Ukrainian incursion.
Separately, President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of breaking the terms of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire by attacking energy infrastructure in Kherson. The attack killed two people and injured at least five others, according to the State Emergency Service. Moscow had claimed that its side of the energy ceasefire had been in effect since March 18, when Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly declared a halt on such attacks following a call with U.S. President Donald Trump.
