**Ukraine’s President Seeks Deal with US**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants to make a deal with the United States. He thinks that American companies should be allowed to use Ukraine’s rare earth minerals in exchange for financial and military help.
Zelensky believes that this agreement will also help keep Russia from being aggressive again. He showed Reuters, a news organization, a map of Ukraine’s mineral wealth and said that any deal must include security guarantees.
The US president, Donald Trump, has been interested in getting access to Ukraine’s rare earths and other important minerals. Zelensky thinks this is a good opportunity for both countries to work together.
**Ukraine Not Giving Away Resources**
Zelensky wants it to be clear that Ukraine is not just giving away its resources. He says they want a partnership, where both sides benefit. He even joked that the Americans should earn the most since they have helped Ukraine the most.
**Security Concerns**
Less than 20% of Ukraine’s mineral resources are under Russian control. Zelensky worries that Russia could use these resources to get help from countries like North Korea and Iran. He believes that Western investment is needed to prevent this from happening.
**Ukraine’s Riches**
Ukraine has a lot to offer, including Europe‘s largest titanium reserves (used for planes and space travel) and significant uranium deposits. Zelensky also wants to use Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities to store American liquefied natural gas.
