**Ukraine Holds Off 49,999 Russian Troops**
On November 11, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian soldiers were holding back a massive force of nearly 50,000 Russian troops in the Kursk Oblast.
The situation is critical. A report by The New York Times revealed that Moscow was preparing to launch a major attack on the region with up to 50,000 soldiers. This includes both Russians and North Koreans.
**Ukraine’s Defense Efforts**
In August, Ukraine launched a surprise offensive in Kursk Oblast. Since then, Russian forces have been able to reclaim about half of the lost territory. The Ukrainian military claimed that their efforts also aimed to prevent a Russian invasion plan in Sumy Oblast.
**Casualties and Consequences**
According to Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi’s statement, Russian forces suffered 7,905 deaths, 12,220 injuries, and 717 captures during the three-month Kursk offensive. Zelensky said that if Ukraine was given permission to use long-range Western weapons against targets deep within Russia, it would be able to preemptively target every camp where North Korean soldiers are gathering.
**International Reaction**
The New York Times reported that Moscow was preparing an offensive in Kursk Oblast with a force of up to 50,000 soldiers. This includes both Russians and North Koreans. Vadym Fillashkin, the governor of Donetsk oblast, said that “this attack could threaten residents of settlements along the Vovcha River in both Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk.”
