According to a recent report from Bloomberg, President Volodymyr Zelensky has outlined a “victory plan” that includes an official invitation for Ukraine to join NATO and a commitment to a sustained supply of advanced weapons. These details were revealed by anonymous sources who are familiar with the matter.
The plan, which Zelensky plans to discuss with U.S. President Joe Biden during his upcoming visit to the U.S., consists of five points and focuses on Ukraine’s security and geopolitical position. It also includes a request for foreign military assistance with the freedom to use it without restrictions, as well as economic support.
In addition to the NATO invitation and arms supplies pledge, the “victory plan” reportedly includes a clear pathway to European Union membership. Zelensky is expected to present the plan to Biden at the White House on September 26th and also plans to discuss it with presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, as well as members of Congress.
While Ukraine has said it is open to suggestions from the U.S. to strengthen the plan, American officials have already expressed their belief that it can be successful. Zelensky has also promised to make the plan public after his discussions with Biden and other U.S. leaders.
The main goal of the “victory plan” is to end the ongoing war in Ukraine with the support of international partners, without relying on cooperation from Russia. However, Zelensky has not yet revealed how the plan will achieve this goal.
