President Zelenskyy revealed that Russia launched around 900 guided bombs, and 500 drones against Ukraine in the last week alone. He called for a stricter restriction on long-range weapons.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, said that Russia had deployed “about 900 guided air bombs, 500 drones and 30 missiles” in the last week against Ukraine.
During the night attack on 3 November alone, Russia launched 96 drones and a missile.
In his Sunday speech, Zelenskyy stated that these “strikes” would not have been possible if Ukraine received enough support from the rest of the world.
Zelenskyy stated that “we need to have sanctions that are truly effective in order to prevent Russia from importing components critical for drone and missile manufacturing.”
On 2 November, President claimed that the October attacks involved “over 2,00 drones and missiles”, manufactured with “Western component still being used.”
Despite Ukraine’s pleas in the face of increased Russian air attacks against Ukrainian cities, Western nations, including the US, the UK and Canada, have restricted Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons such as ATACMS missiles and Storm Shadow missiles, allegedly to prevent deep strikes within Russia.
Long-range weapons enable Ukraine to reach targets outside the frontlines, such as supply depots and command centers, airfields and logistics hubs in Russian-controlled zones. By striking these targets, Ukraine disrupts Russia’s operations by preventing resupply or reinforcements. It also reduces Russian capabilities for long-range attacks on Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
