The Ukrainian president said that Ukraine could launch preemptive attacks against North Korean forces, if Western allies lifted restrictions on long-range missile strikes inside Russia instead of simply observing the situation.
The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has criticized the West for their perceived inaction on North Korea’s increasing militaristic cooperation with Russia.
Intelligence sources indicate that Russia has deployed around 10,000 North Korean soldiers in Ukraine to fight. This could bolster Russian forces at the frontline, and increase pressure on Ukrainian defenses.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte confirmed that these troops were present in Russia’s Kursk Oblast bordering Ukraine. He described it as a dangerous expansion of the war.
Despite this, Ukraine is not allowed to attack military bases deep within Russia with long-range weapons supplied by the West, such as American ATACMS missiles and British Storm Shadows, for fear of escalating nuclear conflict with Russia.
“We could strike in advance if we were able to strike from a sufficient distance. This depends on the partners. Instead of such long-range capability, America, Britain, and Germany watch. “Everyone is waiting for the North Korean military to start attacking Ukrainians,” said Zelenskyy.
He said that Ukrainian forces would be forced to defend themselves against North Korean troops. This will result in a significant expansion of war participants.
