The Ukrainian President revealed that European Partners possess adequate air defense system to provide Ukraine with a “truly reliable” protection against Russian “terror,” but these resources remain unused.
The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has criticised European nations for not activating their air defense systems while Ukraine is constantly attacked by Russia.
Ukraine has received some air defence support from its partners including Patriot batteries, HAWK Systems, NASAMS, IRIS T, and Gepard system, but it still lacks comprehensive coverage to fully protect its territories, especially civilian and energy infrastructure from Russian attacks. Zelenskyy said in April that Ukraine needed at least 25 Patriot systems for the entire country.
Zelenskyy, in a video speech on 9 November, said: “It is incomprehensible that air defense systems just stand there… when they can save hundreds and even thousands of life.”
He claimed that Europe has sufficient air defense capabilities to protect Ukraine.
