**Russian and North Korean Forces Pose Threat to NATO Borders**
Ukraine’s Head of the Office of the President, Andrii Yermak, has warned that if Russia is not stopped now, North Korean soldiers in Russian military uniforms could appear on NATO borders. This threat has been growing since October when Ukraine reported that around 10,000 North Korean troops were deployed to fight alongside Russia.
Yermak emphasized that European nations and NATO members should take the risks of hybrid threats seriously. He highlighted that covert operations like Russia’s suspected sabotage of Finland’s undersea cables are not the only threats Moscow might use.

According to Yermak, the appearance of North Korean soldiers in Russian uniforms or Iranian proxies near NATO borders is entirely possible if Russia is not stopped now. He pointed out that North Korean troops are already fighting on European soil, which was unimaginable earlier. Yermak stressed that impunity fosters further aggression and called for bold decisions and strong actions.
**Heavy Losses Suffered by North Korean Troops**
The US National Security Council Spokesperson, John Kirby, revealed that North Korean forces deployed to Russia have sustained severe losses in battles with Ukrainian forces. In just one week, approximately 1,000 casualties (killed or wounded) were reported while conducting operations near Kursk. Kirby also noted that North Korean soldiers appear heavily indoctrinated and continue pressing attacks even when faced with certain defeats.
