Ukraine Rejects Immediate Talks with Russia
Ukraine‘s top presidential aide, Andrii Yermak, has rejected calls for immediate negotiations with Moscow. He said any pause in fighting would allow Russia to rebuild its military strength.
Yermak made these comments during a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities in Lviv on December 17. According to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, he stated that peace talks with Russia will only be possible when Moscow runs out of resources to continue the war.
There have been discussions about potential peace talks between Ukraine and Russia since Trump’s election victory. However, it remains uncertain how Trump will persuade Moscow to engage in negotiations. Some reports suggest that Trump might consider a peace deal that compromises Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
