Leaders of “Coalition for Change” speak out against changes to laws.
Zurab Japaridze, one of the leaders, says that the changes announced by “Georgian Dream” are not good. He believes they are steps towards autocratic and dictatorial regimes.
Japaridze told journalists about his concerns. He said that these kinds of changes have happened before in Georgia’s history. He believes that the goal is to make it easy for people who agree with them to join the police, and to get rid of those who disagree with them from government jobs.
According to Japaridze, the changes will allow the Minister of Internal Affairs to hire anyone they want into the police without a competition. They will also be able to decide how to hire new staff members on their own.
The executive secretary of “Georgian Dream“, Mamuka Mdinaradze, said that changes are planned for another law, which will make it easier to change jobs in the public sector.
