Zurab Chiaberashvili, Foreign Secretary of the “Unity-National Movement“, who attended the discussion on Georgia in the European Parliament, said that yesterday’s debates proved, and will be confirmed today by the resolution the European Parliament adopts, that the Georgians have the solid and clearly supported of the Europeans peoples, the European Union, in the elections on October 26.
According to him the Georgian people will decide on October 26 whether they want to join the European Union.
“The resolution makes several important points. On the one hand, it clearly states the benefits the Georgian people can expect. On the other, if the election is rigged, we will lose our visa-free travel privileges to the European Union, and we will also miss the opportunity to become members of the most successful organization, the European Union. The resolution states that President Saakashvili must be released immediately and unconditionally. It is also clear that the political persecution that “Georgian Dream”, which has lasted for 12 years, is incompatible with European values and the rule of law. The Georgian people have the choice. The Europeans hope that the Georgians will make a decision in favor of democracy.
