Salome Zurabishvili, President of Georgia, stressed the importance of adhering to the constitutional deadlines when nominating the prime minister and the Cabinet of Ministers. In her speech she addressed the challenges facing democracy, saying ‘nothing in democracy is easy’.
Zurabisvhili said that she also takes into consideration the views of the opposition parties in order to make an appropriate nomination before the election. “Democracy demands that we consider each other”, said the President, highlighting the importance of cooperation between parties. She also hinted at the possibility of discussions and that her nomination would be made in accordance with those discussions.
Zurabishvili mentioned the difficulty of implementing democratic practices. He said that while it’s easier to have a single party in charge, a pluralistic approach would be better for society as a whole.
