**Chinese Company Continues to Supply Technology to Russia**
A Chinese company, Yangzhou Yangjie Electronic Technology Company Limited, has been found to be supplying electronic components to Russia despite China’s October export controls. These controls were put in place after the US and EU imposed sanctions on several Chinese companies that supply technology to Russia.
The investigation by Radio Free Europe found that Yangjie Technology has made at least 238 shipments of electronic components to Russia since February 2022. This includes deliveries to Russian entities that have been sanctioned by the US.
**Components Used in Russian Aerial Bombs**
The components supplied by Yangjie Technology are used in Russian guided bombs, which have caused significant damage and destruction in Ukraine. Ukrainian military forces have discovered these components in Russian UMPK navigation modules, which convert unguided bombs into precision-guided munitions.
These aerial bombs have been used to level Ukrainian positions and destroy cities like Bakhmut and Avdiivka.
**California Facility Still Operating**
Yangjie Technology bought a semiconductor manufacturer based in California, Micro Commercial Components (MCC), in 2015. MCC claims it operates in strict compliance with US laws, but its parent company continues to supply critical electronic components to Russia throughout the war against Ukraine.
The investigation found that at least 17 shipments were made to Simetron Electronic Components, a Russian firm that was placed under US sanctions in May 2023. Deliveries continued through September 2023 despite these sanctions.
