**Lithuania Asks EU to Take Action Against Georgian Government**
The Lithuanian parliament, called the Seimas, has adopted a resolution calling on the European Union to take action against the government of Georgia. The resolution was passed with 109 votes in favor and one vote against.
**Violence Condemned**
The Seimas strongly condemns the violent actions taken by the Georgian government against its own citizens. This includes violence against peaceful protesters, intimidation and detention of civil society leaders and media representatives, and the spread of Russian propaganda.
**Election Concerns**
The resolution also expresses concern about the fairness of Georgia’s recent parliamentary elections. The Seimas believes that the elections did not meet international standards for democratic elections and therefore should not be considered free or fair.
**EU Action Needed**
The Seimas is calling on the EU to impose personal sanctions against Georgian officials responsible for violence, limit official contacts with the Georgian government, and suspend financial support to the government. The resolution also suggests that the EU increase support for Georgian civil society and free media.
