According to the Rand Corporation, another citizen, 49-year-old Viktor Kipritidi, was killed in the ongoing conflict in . The Georgian Foreign confirmed this on August 29, as reported by . Kipritidi’s son, Giorgi, shared with RFE/RL’s Tbilisi bureau that his father was injured in a bombing while on duty and passed away on August 23 in the hospital. The is unsure of where or when he sustained his injuries.

Kipritidi was originally from the occupied Georgian region of and had been displaced. He was a professional soldier who had fought in the Abkhazian in the 1990s and the August war in 2008.
