The leader of the parliamentary majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze, has announced that a temporary investigative commission will be established to study the activities of the regime in force from 2003-2012. However, according to Beka Liluashvili, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, this move is just a political tactic by Georgian Dream.

Liluashvili stated that Georgian Dream has been in a reactive position since the elections and has had to create a new agenda. However, he added that if they want to investigate anything, they should first start from their own ranks. This includes investigating their financiers, members, and high-ranking officials.

Liluashvili also spoke about the information of Radio Liberty, which reported that a letter was sent from Congress to the future US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, recommending sanctioning 25 individuals, including some close to Georgian Dream. He said that this process is logical in order to defeat an authoritarian regime.

According to Liluashvili, when an authoritarian regime is established, it uses specific tools to consolidate power. These include propaganda mechanisms and state institutions controlling economic sectors. Limiting these instruments of influence will limit the regime’s ability to consolidate its power and make compromises.
