In the last 24 hour, 1 800 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed. Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Chief of the Task Force at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council, announced this at a press briefing held today in the Government Administration.
He spoke about the latest statistics related to COVID-19 as well as the measures taken by the Government of Georgia on January 6, 2021.
“Within the scope intensive testing, 14 839 tests were performed within the past 24 hours. Out of these 8 253 antigen-based test method and 6 586 the PCR.
“1 800 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours.” Since the first case was detected, 233 879 test-positive cases have been confirmed in Georgia.
“489 individuals recovered within the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovery to 223 276.
“Unfortunately, twenty new fatal cases occurred within the past 24 hours. Since the outbreak began, the death toll is now 2 666.
“Out of the 1 800 new cases that were detected today, COVID-19’s geographic coverage is as follows: 735 in Tbilisi; 119 in Adjara; 331 in Imereti; 128 in Kvemo Kartli; 103 in Shida Kartli. 43 in Guria. 151 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti. 116 in Kakheti. 22 in Mtskheta-M
“At the moment, COVID-19 active cases have reached 7 911. Out of these, 3 901 individuals receive treatment in hospitals. Of those, 1 921 are based in Tbilisi and 731 in Imereti. In 863 cases, acute health conditions were observed. Out of these, 364 patients are based in Tbilisi. 92 are in Adjara. And 213 are in Imereti. In the case of 279 patient, 171 are based in Tbilisi and 18 in Adjara. The remaining 34 are in Imereti. 765 patients are treated in clinical hotels. Of these, 211 are in Tbilisi and 455 in Adjara. 3 245 people are treated at home.
“484 individuals have been placed in quarantine. 154 of them are in Tbilisi. 45 are in Adjara. And 64 are in Imereti.
“In total, 21,235 individuals were transported from the sovereign borders to quarantine areas between October 6, 2020 and January 5, 2021.
Berdia Sichnava announced that 24 279 people are currently in self-isolation. Of these, 14 703 are located in Tbilisi; 1 958 in Adjara; and 2 497 in Imereti.
