**Bridge Demolition Attempt Foiled in Belgrade**
The Bridge Stays initiative reported on Tuesday that they stopped another attempt to demolish the Old Sava Bridge in Belgrade.
Workers, without proper work orders or city service identification, tried to remove electrical installations on the bridge using an excavator. Activists from The Bridge Stays group intervened and prevented them from doing so.
The initiative is urging citizens to stay alert and be prepared to respond if workers return. They claim that the authorities do not have a project for a new bridge or a legal permit for demolition, but are instead trying to remove the old bridge to make way for the Belgrade Waterfront complex.
The Old Sava Bridge, built in 1942, is a vital connection between Belgrade’s old and new sections. It carries city buses, trams, and cars. The Bridge Stays initiative has been guarding the bridge to prevent its demolition.
