**UK Prepared to Fight Russia if it Invades NATO Country**
The UK is ready to send soldiers to fight Russia if it invades a NATO country in Eastern Europe, according to Rob Magowan, the deputy chief of the British defense staff. This was said on November 21.
Magowan made these comments at a meeting with lawmakers in the House of Commons defense committee. He assured them that the UK would respond quickly if called upon. “I don’t think anybody in this room should be under any illusion that if the Russians invaded Eastern Europe tonight, then we would meet them in that fight,” he said.
The UK is concerned about Russia’s growing aggression, particularly its advances in eastern Ukraine. This uncertainty has been made worse by Republican Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election. During his campaign, Trump stated that the US might not support allies who fail to meet NATO defense spending commitments.
**UK Army Small in Size**
Despite this, the British government is concerned about the state of its military. The UK Army is now at its smallest size since the 1700s. Defense Secretary John Healey has said that the condition of the armed forces was “far worse than we thought” when his Labor Party took office.
**Russia Tests New Missile**
On November 21, Russia tested a new intermediate-range ballistic missile called “Oreshnik“. This was during an attack on Ukraine’s city of Dnipro. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that this test was to show Russia’s military capabilities.
**Ukraine Reports Casualties**
Ukraine has reported casualties from the Russian attacks. The country’s Energy Ministry reported that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is on the verge of a blackout after Russian shelling of power lines left the plant connected to only one line.
