Protest March Scheduled for February 15 in Georgia
On February 15, a protest march will take place in all major cities of Georgia. The event is called “Our Choice: Either Freedom or Russian Dictatorship!” and aims to show opposition to the current government.
According to organizers from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the protest will happen because they claim that events in the country are following a “Russian scenario”. They say this restricts freedom of speech.
The march will start at Europe Square in Tbilisi and go towards Freedom Square. The main goal is to tell the government that the people do not accept their actions. This includes arrests, torture, and new laws that some consider too strict.
Eka Gigauri, Executive Director of Transparency International Georgia, said: “We are not afraid, and we will continue the fight.” She emphasized that NGOs will be at Europe Square to join citizens in protesting against the government’s actions.
A protest rally is also planned for February 15 in Tbilisi with participation from civil groups, NGOs, and citizens.
